Continued..........
As I said; Then came a knock on the door and Oh, My GOD !! There he stood right in front of me! A little shorter than I remembered, a little heavier too, all that thick black hair had gone silver, wearing glasses, but I would have known those blues eyes anywhere, even after not seeing them for 36 years !! I put the coffee on and then said;" you broke my heart you know"?
"ME? Broke your heart..........I stayed drunk for a year after you ran off and got married" he said. Of course we played the blame game a few minutes until we both realized that that spark never left, it just went dormant for nearly four decades.
Now for a little 1960's history. Eric was my next door neighbor, seven years my senior. When your 13 and he's 20, that's too much senior, my daddy would have hung him by his ears! So, I
flirted and he smiled............and I cried when I saw him with them 'older women'. However, he paid me enough attention to keep my young heart in his hands. I even expressed to my Aunt who had married a Murdock( no relation) that I would marry Eric and my name would be Murdock too. Can you imagine me saying that at 13 years old?My Momma would have kicked my butt into the next week if Aunt Wilma would have told on me! Anyhow...Vietnam was going strong and he joined up, the 173rd Airborne Brigade! I wore that song ' Soldier Boy' out, do you hear me? Wore it out! I wrote him letters that went unanswered, we moved and life went on. I went on and married someone else even though I was too young(15) to even think about marriage. The first red flag came 15 minutes after the wedding..........I saw Eric while stopped at a red light a few blocks from the church! I had no idea he was back in town and out of the Army! OMG!
"I have stepped off in it it now", I thought ! My Momma raised us to be responsible for our actions, " you make your bed, you lay in it" she said. So I laid in it for 20 years and gave birth to three children, then fate had other plans. He had married someone else 18 months after I married and they had two children, both boys. She passed away with Cancer right around the time I moved back to Hattiesburg.
After the knock on the door.............we dated for 4 years and married on December 14 th 2007 !
So let's see..........I moved back to Hattiesburg, I dated Eric for 4 years, I married him, I started commenting on blogs then got my very own blog and joined Facebook! So much for saying Never !!
And that my blogger friends is the rest of the story..................
