" Chill'n On The Bayou "

Before I tell you about our whirlwind trip to Cajun Country..............

I want to tell that Interstate 12 from Slidell Louisiana to Lafayette Louisiana is an obstacle course!! Those Crazy Cajun drivers will RUN OVER YOUR ARSE!! I felt like I was at a NASCAR RACE! They dart in and out of traffic, pull in front of you like you aren't even there !! We saw

cars come up the right shoulder, pull in front of the person in the right lane then dart over to the left lane, more than once my friends! SHEESH Louise! Let the driver beware!!

This is approaching the Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge !

Bumper to Bumper at 2:00 PM..............

This bridge is so high it's like being on a mountain top!

Crossing the Mighty Mississippi River.............

Angie and Kat...I was waving at you girls !

We made it alive to Lafayette! I was so glad to get to our hotel ! We rested awhile then went out driving and had Red Beans and Rice for dinner! We got up at 5:30, it was still dark when we headed out to the 7 mile yard sale. 50 degrees and after 80 degree days, it felt like it was 30!

People were already out in droves but we couldn't see what was on the tables so we drove to the far end and started there! I didn't take many pictures, it was just so cold! We did stop at some sales held under a bunch of Live Oaks in Grand Coteau that I snapped...........

The lady whose daughter lives in the house here told us this tree is 300 years old! It was just majestic!!

It branches swept downward like a ballerina's arms in dance...........

This is a shot of the lady's yard sale table under this tree...........

This shot is further back from the tree!

Hubby found an American made torch set that was like new, he said; retails for around $ 300.00

that he got for $25.00! He was tripping over that find! This dressing table and stool was my favorite find for $ 10.00 ! I also got the 2 baskets sitting on the floor next to it for 50 cents a piece. Under the baskets is a case of new wide mouth quart canning jars I picked up for $ 1.00!

I found this aluminum cake platter and cover for $ 3.00! My Grandmother had one exactly like it I remember well!

I picked up this new shoe rack for $ 5.00. I looked at one of these in Walmart the other day and I think it was $ 32.00...............

I though this was cute for $ 1.00. I'm going to find a place for this to hang on the screen porch.

I have and use my mother's sugar bowl but don't have the matching creamer. I do now, for 25 cents!

This is another shoe rack for $2.00. I'm not going to use it as a shoe rack though, I'll show you later what I got this for.

After we left the yard sales, we went to a flea market in Lafayette. I bought this little hat.

We got 2 beautiful Fig Trees(they're in the greenhouse) that are the small brown canning figs.

We also got 2 bags of Louisiana Satsumas.

After leaving the flea market we drove a short distance to Breaux Bridge, La.

HAVE A WONDERFUL SUNDAY EVERYONE!
